Hard-to-find

Testing, Testing, 1, 2, 3!

I’m in the process of checking out the best online file sharing sites. I’m not too keen on the ones I’ve been using since the nice folk over at Box.net cancelled my account. I want one that’s a) cheap, b) advert-free, c) that is easy for me to keep tabs on that will enable me to see how many downloads I’m getting etc and d) one that once an mp3 is uploaded rings a bell somewhere and search engines such as Hype and Elbow start picking up on it. This is where a lot of my visitors come from. Cheers!

What I’ve just said to you may make no sense at all, but bear with me. Here‘s a test file. It’s only the vocal-only take of Ronnie Spector doing ‘Be My Baby’, one of the most popular Plain Or Pan? posts ever. I’m testing the water to see if the trial version from the host is any good before I spend money on it. The proper paid-for version is advert-free. I think I will be going with it over the next couple of days. Then I’ll be back to blogging like a maniac. Thanks for yer patience.

  1. I wanna express my gratitude for all the rare Teenage Fanclub stuff you have posted on this blog.
Now I am kicking myself for not having saved the mp3 of Cul-De-Sac (Student Network Broadcast Session) when it was available on the old teenagefanclub.com. It was a lovely acoustic version. Seems I can’t dig it up from the internet now. Can you possibly help me?

  2. On the Ronnie Spector test I couldn’t figure out where to get the download and given all the adverts and suspicious pop-ups I didn’t dare freelance and try some stuff out.

Do I click on the “Download Original” thing off to the right side?

  3. Hi mate, it’s not intuitive, but not difficult to get the hang of. All these are pretty similar probably.

I hate to quibble, but this is Baby I Love You, not Be My Baby 🙂

If you had a vocals only version of Be My Baby I’d love to hear it!

  4. Hi,

I was thinking the same as Pablo, a vocals only version of Be My Baby would be good, although whether it would be better than this is debatablle, what an absolutely increadible voice when heard on nit’s own, beginning to regret not going to see her at the Arches the other month.

    Great blog btw.
    Cheers

many thanks for making this version of baby i love you available. any/every thing from the spector 5-cd set would be massively appreciated. div-share works fine (for me at least).
thanks for the trouble you’ve gone to.
